Turmeric

Turmeric is a golden-yellow spice derived from the root of Curcuma longa, known for its active compound curcumin, which exhibits potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It has long been used in Ayurvedic and traditional medicine.

In sports nutrition, turmeric is valued for its potential to reduce muscle soreness, joint inflammation, and oxidative damage following intense exercise. Curcumin’s effects may support recovery and improve mobility in physically active individuals.

Due to low bioavailability, turmeric extracts in supplements are often combined with black pepper extract (piperine) or formulated in liposomal forms to enhance absorption.
